Vodka Infusion Recipes

Bars and individuals alike are making there own flavored vodkas with the multitude of vodka infusion recipes that are out there. Have you ever been to a bar and seen large glass jars filled with fruit and liquid? They are making their own infused vodka, it looks cool and it's easy to do.

First find a large glass jar that seals nicely. Check your local stores or see infused-vodka.com.

Next pick up a bottle of your favorite vodka.

Follow one of the vodka infusion recipes below.

Make sure your infusion jar and infusion ingredients are all clean.

The infusion process takes somewhere between 3-5 days. This time allows the vodka to absorb all the flavors. If it ends up too intense, just add more vodka.

Once the vodka is infused to the point you like, separate the vodka from the other ingredients. I would pour the infused vodka back into the original, cleaned out vodka bottle. Put a pour spout on it for easy cocktail mixing. Vodka infusion recipes:

Apple and Cinnamon

4 cinnamon sticks
6 large red apples
1 750ml bottle of vodka of choice

Slice the apples and toss them into your infusion jar with the cinnamon sticks. Add the bottle of vodka, and let it infuse for a few days. This makes a great hot apple cider cocktail.

Cantaloupe vodka

5 cups of cut up cantaloupe
1 750ml bottle of vodka of choice

Slice up about 5 cups worth of cantaloupe. Toss into your infusion jar with a bottle of vodka. Infuse for a few days.

Cucumber Vodka

Cucumber martinis are in vogue with some people I know. They have a cool, clean flavor. This vodka infusion recipe is super easy. All you need is:

6 cucumbers
1 750ml bottle of vodka of choice

Cut you cucumbers into rounds, leaving the skin on. Insert them into your jar and add the vodka. Let it infuse for 4-5 days.

Vodka From Hell

6 peppers - you can use Jalapenos, Serranos, Poblanos, etc
1 750ml bottle of vodka of choice

The seed are what carry the most heat of a pepper, so lets remove these. Cut the pepper in half lengthwise. Push the core of the pepper and the seeds out. You may want to wear plactic gloves. If you don't wear gloves, remember to wash your hands vigorously when you are done. Don't make the mistake inadvertantly scratching an itch around your face or eyes after cutting chilis!

Now just cut the peppers up, add to your jar with the bottle of vodka. Infuse for about 2 days. A bloody mary is an obvious choice for this infusion. A martini bar in my home town called Vault has a great cocktail using pepper vodka. If I was to guess the recipe it would be:

Pineapple Pepper Martini

1 1/2oz pepper vodka
1/2oz simple syrup
1/2oz fresh lime juice
2oz pineapple juice

Shake ingredients cold and serve in a martini glass. You get a sweet, fruity pineapple flavor up front, but then the fire kicks in, and you get the slow burn in the finish. It's a trip.

You are probably getting the drift that these vodka infusion recipes are really simple. They are fun and you can exercise a lot of creativity with them. I bet you already have some ideas of your own.
