The Ice In A Martini

by Max
(Austin,T)

Question:

Is there a trick to getting the fine haze of ice in a martini?

Answer:

Good question. Some martini drinkers really like that and will request it. It's not difficult to achieve. I think it will probably work best if you use the type of ice that you see at bars - the smaller cubes rather than the large cubes that come out of the tray in your freezer.

This is because they will be easier to shake and therefore splinter off creating the super thin flakes across the martinis surface.

Mainly, you'll want the shake the martini firmly for a little longer than usual to create this effect. When you strain, make sure that you withhold any larger chucks and just let the ice flakes slide through.
