Cucumber Black Pepper Vodka Infusion

by Susan
(Southern Oregon)

After following Alton Brown's recipe for black pepper vodka, I have modified the amount I make.

He called for a certain amount of black peppercorns and a liter of vodka. I LOVE black pepper and used more. Mistake. Now I have a liter of the HOT FROM HELL vodka!

I will have to dilute it. I just made cucumber/black pepper and it's great. Also made lemon/orange. Good also. I now make it in a quart canning jar. If it doesn't turn out so great, it's not a whole liter of vodka!

For a quart, 1/2 large cucumber, peeled, sliced, and about 1 t. black peppercorns. 3 days in a cool dark place.

The other was one orange and one lemon... peeled, some zest, 3 days.
